How to Change Your WordPress Login URL for Better Security
Your WordPress login page is the gateway to your website—and unfortunately, it’s also one of the first places hackers target. By default, anyone can access your admin login simply by typing /wp-admin at the end of your domain. This makes it easier for cybercriminals to attempt brute-force attacks or exploit known vulnerabilities.
Whether you’re running a personal blog or managing a business site in Ghana, securing your WordPress admin area is a smart move. One of the simplest yet most effective ways to do this is by changing the default login URL. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to safely update your WordPress login URL using a free plugin—no technical skills required.
Why you should change WordPress Login page url
Unfortunately all WordPress websites come with a default admin login page which is yourwebsite.com/wp-admin, which means anyone can just go to your website and access your admin login page by adding wp-admin to your site url.
Well while that might not look like much of a problem but imaging if they can guest your credentials, what would happen?
So changing your login url is the best thing to do, if you want to prevent that from happening.

There are several plugins out there that can handle the task but for the sake of this tutorial we’ll be using WPS Hide Login, because its free and easy to configure.
How to install and configure WPS Hide Login
First of All login to your WordPress Dashboard and go to plugins
Go to add new and search for WPS Hide Login in the Search Box
Now click install and activate the plugin
Now go to the plugins page locate the plugin WPS Hide Login and click on settings.
Once you are on the settings page scroll down to the section where you will see WPS Hide Login
Now you will see two boxes the first one is where you’ll change the login url e.g from yourwebsite.com/wp-admin to yourwebsite.com/customurl while the second one is the url a user will be taken to if they try to access the default WordPress wp-admin page.
Just replace the url with your new custom url of your choice and click save.
